"Welcome to Mount Vernon" Signs!
Thanks to your FNA membership, and with the cooperation of the Mount Vernon Public Works Department, we paid for and had installed the three "Welcome to Mount Vernon" signs along with landscaping you see at various gateways into our city. They're located at: Broad Street Exit off the Cross County Parkway; North Columbus Ave exit off the Cross County Parkway and on North Columbus Avenue at the entrance to Mount Vernon from Bronxville.
Our Fleetwood Neighborhood Association members volunteer to keep the landscaping beautiful at these locations and your help is always welcome.

New York Times | Fleetwood is "Westchester County's Best Kept Secret" Read the article
From the Article: Suburbs have much in common. But not every neighborhood that is a hop, skip and jump from a major city is created equal, according to residents of Fleetwood, in Westchester County. Known for its diversity of population and prices, Fleetwood, a section of Mount Vernon, is a different breed of ’burb', says residents, some of whom might have arrived reluctantly but don’t seem to have ever looked back.

Wall Street Journal | Mount Vernon: Westchester at a Discount Read the article
From the Article: Mount Vernon, N.Y., draws many newcomers for its rich variety of prewar Tudor, Mediterranean and Colonial single-family homes. The homes are comparable with those in neighboring Bronxville—but at a fraction of the price. The prices, coupled with a 30-minute commute on Metro-North into Midtown Manhattan, have made the city a popular destination for older couples looking to downsize and for young people hunting for their first homes, brokers say. Now young people are moving to Mount Vernon to buy their first homes before leaving for pricier areas, such as Bronxville to north, Ms. Bessone said. That is because Mount Vernon "has the quality of homes people are looking for at half the price," Ms. Bessone said. |

Mount Vernon 2024 Sanitation Schedule
Sanitation Tips:
Place your trash on the curb the morning of collection with tops of cans securely attached.
On recycling days, break cardboard boxes down and secure together with twine. Otherwise, windy days will make a mess of your neighborhood. For other items (bottles/cans, newspaper) use appropriate recycling bins.
